Bangladesh and Qatar sign five MoUs

Today, Bangladesh and Qatar signed five agreements and five memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to strengthen their Cooperation.

 

Several agreements have been reached between Bangladesh and Qatar, covering various essential areas. These include measures to avoid double taxation and prevent fiscal evasion related to income taxes, Cooperation in the legal field, maritime transport, promotion and protection of mutual investment, and establishing a joint business council between the two countries.

 

The agreement encompasses five Memorandums of Understanding covering workforce employment, ports, education, youth and sports, and diplomatic training.

 

The signing ceremony occurred at the Prime Minister's Office, where Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of the State of Qatar, and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were in attendance.

 

In a significant development, Qatar's Trade and Industry Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Thani, and Bangladesh's Industries Minister, Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun, have signed an agreement to promote and protect mutual investments between the two nations.

 

Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, the state minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar, and Waseqa Ayesha Khan, the state minister for finance of Bangladesh, recently signed a bilateral agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion concerning income taxes.

 

The Cooperation in the Legal Field agreement was signed by Bangladesh's Law, justice, and parliamentary affairs minister, Anisul Huq, and Qatar's state Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, representing their respective countries.

 

A maritime transport agreement was recently signed between Qatar and Bangladesh. Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, Qatar's state minister for foreign affairs, and Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, the state minister for shipping, signed the agreement.

 

The agreement on establishing the Bangladesh-Qatar Joint Business Council was signed by Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani, Chairman of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI), and Mahbubul Alam, president of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI).

 

In a significant development, Bangladesh's foreign minister, Hasan Mahmud, and Qatar's state minister for foreign affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in diplomatic training. This agreement marks a step forward in strengthening ties between the two nations.

 

In addition, Bangladesh's foreign minister, Hasan Mahmud, and Qatar's state minister for foreign affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance Cooperation in education, higher education, and scientific research.

 

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was recently signed between Bangladesh's youth and sports minister, Nazmul Hassan, and Qatar's state minister for foreign affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, to enhance cooperation in youth and sports.

 

The MoU on Cooperation in the field of workforce employment (labour) was signed by Shafiqur Rahaman Chowdhury, the State Minister for Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment of Bangladesh, and Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Qatar.

 

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between MWANI Qatar and Chittagong Port Authority, with the participation of Qatar's State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, and Bangladesh's State Minister for Shipping, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury.

 

In a significant ceremony, the capital city of Dhaka honoured Qatar Amir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani by naming a road and a park after him.

 

A park is currently under construction in the Balur field of the Kalshi area in Mirpur, under the jurisdiction of the Dhaka North City Corporation. Simultaneously, a road is being extended from Mirpur ECB Chattwar to Kalsi FlyOver.

 

The road and the park have been officially renamed Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani Avenue and Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani Park, respectively.

                                                                   

During Qatar's Amir's visit to the PMO, Sheikh Hasina greeted him at the Tiger Gate with a flower bouquet. They also engaged in a private one-to-one meeting. Upon leaving the Prime Minister's Office, the Amir signed the Visitor's Book at the Tiger Gate.

 

 

After he departed from the PMO, he moved to the Bangabhaban, where President Mohammed Shahabuddin graciously hosted a lunch in his honour. The Amir is set to leave for Qatar this evening aboard a specially arranged aircraft.
