The new app broadens Apple's presence in the sports industry by acquiring broadcasting rights for games on Apple TV Plus.
Apple released a new iPhone application named Sports, which provides users with a centralized platform to access scores, team statistics, betting odds, and other information from various prominent sports leagues.
The app supports the NBA, NHL, NCAA, Premier League, MLS, and other leagues at launch. Apple holds exclusive streaming rights to the MLS.
The platform supports Bundesliga, La Liga, Serie A, and Liga MX, with plans to add more services. Apple announced that MLB, NFL, NCAAF, NWSL, and WNBA will be accessible for their upcoming seasons.
Apple is increasing its participation in live sports as it launches the app.
The company introduced its football streaming service, MLS Season Pass, last year and has been broadcasting Friday Night Baseball since 2022.
The app integrates with sports streaming services, allowing users to access Apple TV Plus or other supported streaming services to watch live games.
The app does not facilitate betting, and Apple allows users to deactivate betting odds if desired.
