Today, Prof Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser to the interim government, emphasized the students' desire for meaningful and profound reforms to transform the country into a vibrant and authentic democracy.

"Success is imperative." "We have no other option," he stated, addressing foreign diplomats during a "Meet and Greet" session at a hotel in Dhaka.

He emphasized that the task at hand is immense yet achievable with the collective support of individuals and the global community.

In a scathing critique of the Sheikh Hasina government, he expressed concern over the erosion of institutions under her leadership, suggesting that their pursuit of power has had detrimental effects on the country. The state of the judiciary was in disarray. During a brutal crackdown that lasted for over a decade and a half, democratic rights were suppressed. There are serious allegations of election fraud. For years, countless young individuals have missed the opportunity to exercise their right to vote. There have been reports of banks being robbed under suspicious circumstances, allegedly with the support of influential political figures. There were allegations of power abuse leading to the plundering of the state coffer.

In a recent statement, the chief adviser emphasized their commitment to conducting an election characterized by freedom, fairness, and active participation. They expressed their intention to hold the election as soon as they have fulfilled their mandate to implement crucial reforms in various sectors, including the election commission, judiciary, civil administration, security forces, and media.

"We will also strive to foster national reconciliation with genuine dedication."

In his statement, he expressed that a new era has dawned, as the students passionately conveyed their vision of a nation where individuals can pursue their dreams and experience unrestricted freedom of speech, regardless of their political, religious, or ethnic background. He emphasized the importance of a government that upholds democracy, justice, human rights, and freedom of expression.

According to him, the interim government's main focus would be to restore law and order.

"With the steadfast support of our citizens and dedicated armed forces, we anticipate a return to normalcy shortly." The police force has once again resumed its operations. The armed forces have committed to assisting civil power for as long as necessary.

Prof Yunus emphasized the significance of Bangladesh's current position, highlighting the need for a lasting transformation of the nation that the brave students and people deserve. This journey is undoubtedly challenging, and your assistance is crucial as we navigate it.

In his statement, he emphasized the importance of meeting their aspirations. It is preferable to act as soon as possible. "We must strive to create opportunities to lead to a poverty-free and prosperous new Bangladesh."
