Why Prince Philip wasn't king despite marrying Elizabeth II

When Elizabeth II, Prince Philip's wife, became Queen in 1952, he did not take on the title "King."

It was often asked why he was not King of England during the 70 years that Queen Elizabeth II was in charge. The answer is a tight rule.

According to British Parliamentary law, reading is the best way to find out who will be the next King or Queen and what title the monarch's partner will have.

The newspaper said, "When it comes to succession, the law only looks at blood, not gender." This rule makes the Royal Family tree sound hard to understand, but it is straightforward.

Reader's Digest said that a guy "is not eligible to take the male form of his wife's title," which differs from a woman marrying into the Royal Family.

Reading Digest also said, "In line with this, Philip Mountbatten did not become prince when he married Princess Elizabeth in 1947." Queen Elizabeth did not give Philip the title of "prince" until 1957, when she issued letters patent.

A royal scholar named Marlene Koenig told Town and Country that this is also true for Jack Brooks’s bank, who is married to Princess Eugenie.

Today, June 10, 1921, is Prince Philip's birth. The King or Queen passed away on April 9, 2021, before his 100th birthday.

Queen Camilla, unlike Philip, was given the female version of the title Charles.

After King Charles took the throne in September 2022, she was called "Queen Consort," but the "Consort" part has been mostly dropped since then.

In her Accession Day speech in February 2022, the late Queen said she wanted her loving daughter-in-law to be called "Queen Consort." This was different from what people thought she would be called before.

People thought she would be called "Princess Consort" when Charles became King when she married him in 2005.

Buckingham Palace put out a message after Philip died in 2021.

The statement read: "It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen announces the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle."

Less than a year and a half later, on September 8, 2022, the late Queen Elizabeth passed away in Balmoral, aged 96.
