Vinicius Jr.: Madrid players will leave the field over racism

Vinicius Jr., the talented forward from Real Madrid, has made a strong statement regarding racism in football. He and his fellow team-mates are prepared to take a stand by leaving the pitch if they encounter any further instances of racism throughout the season.

During a press conference earlier this year, the Brazil forward became emotional while discussing the abuse he has faced. He expressed his diminishing desire to continue playing football.

Vinicius Jr. has boldly asserted that Real Madrid is prepared to leave the field if necessary this season.

During an interview, he stated, "From an external perspective, we must vacate the field promptly to facilitate swift change."

Three Valencia fans were sentenced to eight months in prison for their misconduct toward the frontman during a match on May 21, 2023.

The supporters have been convicted of a "crime against moral integrity" with the added factor of discrimination rooted in racist motives.

Vinicius Jr. suggested that the only solution to eradicate racism from football is to end matches.

"It's a frequent discussion among club-goers," said the 24-year-old. "It wasn't just me, but all the players expressed their unanimous sentiment that if such a situation were to occur again, everyone would be compelled to vacate the field," It is imperative that those who have insulted us face a significantly greater penalty.

A noticeable change is happening in Spain today, both in what I see and how I feel. Some may still hold prejudiced views, but these days, they are hesitant to openly voice their opinions on the football field or in apparent areas.

"By taking these steps, we can gradually diminish the presence of racism in our society." While ending racism may be out of reach, shifting Spain's mindset brings satisfaction.
