Sri Lanka's Rajitha will miss the test match against Bangladesh due to an injury

In a significant setback for Sri Lanka, the country's in-form pace bowler Kasun Rajitha has been ruled out of the second Test match against Bangladesh due to a back injury.

The cricket board of Sri Lanka confirmed the news and stated that Asitha Fernando was Rajitha's replacement on the squad.

The second and final Test is set to begin on Saturday in Chittagong, and Sri Lanka is leading 1-0 after a comprehensive 328-run victory in the opening match in Sylhet.

Rajitha played a crucial role in Sri Lanka's triumph, taking eight wickets in two innings, including 5-56 in the second innings.

Fernando, who last played a Test match against Afghanistan in February, has been in good form and took ten wickets the last time he played a Test match in Bangladesh in 2022.

Sri Lanka has never lost a Test series to Bangladesh, and Rajitha's absence is undoubtedly a blow to the team's chances of winning the series.

Sri Lanka Cricket stated that Rajitha injured his left upper back, which has ruled him out of the second Test. Fernando was initially ruled out of the Bangladesh series due to a hamstring injury, but he has fully recovered and has been included in the squad for the second Test.

It remains to be seen how Sri Lanka will fare without Rajitha, but the team hopes that Fernando can step up and deliver a match-winning performance in the crucial second Test.
