A case has been ordered to be registered by the court regarding the alleged abduction of a Supreme Court lawyer. The individuals involved in the case include former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and four others.

The order was passed by Judge Fazana Shakil Shumu Chowdhury of the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) court at around 1:15 pm on Wednesday.

According to Rakib Chowdhury, an assistant at the CMM court bench, the Uttara West police station has been instructed to investigate the matter.

The case involves other individuals besides Sheikh Hasina, including former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, Law Minister Anisul Huq, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque, and former Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) Director General Benazir Ahmed. In addition, around 20-25 RAB officials have been implicated in the case.

The defendant of the case, Supreme Court lawyer Sohel Rana, stated that he was apprehended by individuals claiming to be members of law enforcement in the Uttara area of the capital around 8:30 pm on February 10, 2015.

Sohel Rana alleged that he experienced physical and psychological abuse, causing him to lose consciousness.

Earlier today, a court in Dhaka issued an order to file a murder case against Sheikh Hasina and six others in connection with the shooting of a shopkeeper in Mohammadpur, the capital's neighborhood.

The order was issued by Rajesh Chowdhury, the magistrate of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's (CMM) court, at approximately 2:45 pm on Tuesday. The Mohammadpur police station was directed to document the murder allegations as a case officially.

Among the accused are Awami League general secretary and former road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader, former home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, former inspector general of police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) commissioner Habibur Rahman, additional commissioner Harun-Or-Rashid, and joint commissioner Biplab Kumar Sarker.

A staggering number of 580 individuals have tragically lost their lives as a result of the violent confrontations that erupted from the protests demanding quota reform. Amidst a student-led mass uprising, Sheikh Hasina resigned as the prime minister on August 5 and sought refuge in India.
