Russia launches missile strike on Kyiv, causing several casualties, says mayor


According to municipal authorities, Russia initiated a missile assault on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, in the early hours of Thursday. This attack resulted in injuries to a minimum of 10 individuals and caused damage to residential structures and industrial facilities. However, the air defences successfully intercepted all the missiles.


According to Serhiy Popko, the chief of the military administration, the city has been subjected to its first significant assault in recent weeks, including the use of both ballistic and cruise missiles.


According to the speaker, after a period of 44 days, the adversary initiated a further missile assault on Kyiv. Emergency services are now operational in several locations. The process of mitigating the repercussions of the missile assault is now under progress.


According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, a minimum of ten individuals sustained injuries across the urban area. According to municipal authorities, one of the individuals sent to the hospital was an 11-year-old female.


The air force commander said that Ukraine's air defences successfully intercepted all 31 Russian missiles aimed towards the city.


According to Popko, the Russian military used strategic bombers and fired missiles from its own territory. These missiles were aimed towards the city from several angles, after intricate operations in nearby areas.


The duration of air warnings was around three hours.


According to Klitschko, a number of residential structures, industrial locations, and a kindergarten inside the city were struck by missile debris.
