In a significant development, Manchester United has agreed with Paris St-Germain to transfer talented Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The deal, worth an impressive 50 million euros (£42.29 million), marks a significant move for both clubs.

An additional 10 million euros (£8.46 million) in payments could be received in addition to the initial agreement.

Ugarte may be flying to Manchester for a medical later today.

Napoli is reportedly set to acquire midfielder Scott McTominay in a simultaneous transaction for 30 million euros (£25.37m).

Ugarte's potential move to United has been discussed all summer, and it seems that the player is now on the verge of signing for the Old Trafford club.

This comes just a year after his transfer from Sporting Lisbon to PSG for a reported fee of 60m euros.

A 23-year-old player made 37 appearances for Luis Enrique's team, 25 of which were in the league, contributing to PSG's 12th Ligue 1 title victory.

PSG has reportedly negotiated a 10% sell-on clause for Ugarte, and both clubs have expressed satisfaction with the agreement.

It is reported that the Ugarte deal hinges on McTominay finalizing his move to Napoli, with sources at Old Trafford expressing optimism that the transfer will go through.

McTominay is set to go to Italy on Tuesday to undergo a medical examination.

According to sources within the United camp, the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability regulations widely acknowledge that clubs are strongly encouraged to sell their home-grown players.

Manager Erik ten Hag could not provide a firm assurance of a consistent starting position for McTominay, and it should be noted that Manchester United had initially entertained offers for the 27-year-old a year ago.

In an impressive display of skill and determination, the Scotland midfielder, who had initially joined a United soccer school at a young age, secured 32 Premier League appearances and netted seven goals for United during the previous season.

In addition, he was a crucial player in the FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City.

According to sources close to the club, United identified Ugarte early in the transfer window.

The negotiations were handled patiently, considering his impressive performance in the Copa America, where he made it to the tournament squad representing Uruguay.

Unfortunately, Uruguay was defeated by Argentina in the final.

If the transfer goes as planned, Ugarte will join United as their fifth signing this summer, pushing their total spending to over £190m.

Since Ten Hag's appointment in 2022, United has invested close to £600m in acquiring new players.
