Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has taken legal action by filing a petition in the Delhi High Court to contest his arrest by the Enforcement Directorate. The arrest concerns the money laundering case connected to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam.

According to insiders from his Aam Aadmi Party, his legal team plans to make an urgent request to the high court to hear the matter, ideally on Sunday.

On Friday, a trial court ordered his custody with the ED until March 28 for further questioning.

Kejriwal, taken into custody by the ED on Friday night, argued in his plea that his arrest and remand were unlawful and that he should be released without delay. He was arrested by the ED shortly after the high court denied him protection from coercive action by the central anti-money laundering agency.

Kejriwal has sought the intervention of the high court to dismiss and nullify all legal actions, including the summonses that have been issued against him.

According to Kejriwal, he has expressed strong criticism of the ruling party and holds the position of an opposition leader and a partner in the INDIA bloc. He also believes that the ED, being under the Centre's control, has been utilised as a tool.

This case involves accusations of corruption and money laundering in developing and implementing the Delhi government's excise policy for 2021-22, which was ultimately cancelled.

Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh, prominent leaders of the AAP, are currently in judicial custody as part of the ongoing case.

Kejriwal's name has been repeatedly cited in the charge sheets filed by the ED.

The agency claims that the accused contacted Kejriwal to develop the excise policy, which allegedly led to them receiving unfair advantages. They are said to have paid kickbacks to the AAP in exchange for these benefits.
