According to reports from Iranian state media, a tragic incident occurred in Iran as a bus transporting Pakistani pilgrims overturned, resulting in the devastating loss of at least 28 lives.

A defective braking system caused the crash on Tuesday night in the central Iranian province of Yazd, according to a preliminary police investigation.

A group of pilgrims journeyed from the Sindh province in Pakistan to the sacred city of Karbala in Iraq. Their purpose was to honour and observe one of the most significant occasions in the Shia calendar.

Local media reports suggest that approximately 50 individuals, including pilgrims from Larkana, Ghotki, and other cities in Sindh, were on the bus during the crash.

According to Ali Malekzadeh, the crisis management director, the tragic crash claimed the lives of 11 women and 17 men.

According to reports from local media, a bus caught fire near the Dehshir-Taft checkpoint in Iran, approximately 681 km (423 miles) south of the capital Tehran.

According to Mr Malekzadeh, the bus veered off the road due to the driver's inability to maintain control, unfamiliarity with the route, excessive speed, and technical issues.

Asif Ali Zardari, the president of Pakistan, has declared his intention to retrieve the crash victims' bodies and provide aid to the injured.

The Interior Minister, Moshin Naqvi, expressed his profound sadness over the tragic loss of human lives in the bus accident in Iran.

We have requested assistance from the Pakistani consulate in Iran for the ongoing recovery efforts. Mudassir Tipu stated that he had contacted the Iranian government and local authorities in Yazd.

Arbaeen, the pilgrimage that concludes 40 days of mourning for Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed, is a significant event.

Iman Hussein's tragic death in the Battle of Karbala over a millennium ago continues to evoke profound sorrow and grief among countless faithful individuals.

Karbala, the ancient city, transforms into a vibrant spectacle adorned with twinkling fairy lights, blooming flowers, and festive bunting.

Karbala residents take enormous pride in welcoming Arbaeen pilgrims, showcasing their long-standing tradition of hospitality.

Last year's pilgrimage saw an astounding participation of approximately 25 million individuals, solidifying Arbaeen's position as the grandest annual pilgrimage on our planet.

In contrast, approximately 2.5 million pilgrims participated in the Hajj to Mecca the same year.
