Ranchi's JSCA International Stadium Complex February 23–27, 04:00 GMT

Indian speed bowler Jasprit Bumrah will rest for the fourth Test against England in Ranchi on Friday.

The decision was made "keeping in mind the duration of the series and amount of cricket he has played in recent times," according to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

As the only frontline pace bowler on either side to have participated in all three Test matches thus far, Bumrah has the top ranking in the world for men's Test bowlers.

India is ahead 2-1 in the five-Test series.

With 17 wickets taken at an average of 13.64 in the series thus far, Bumrah30, is the leading wicket-taker.

Due to a quad injury, batsman KL Rahul will lose further time and be evaluated before next month's last Test in Dharamsala.

After being cut from the team for the third Test in Rajkot, fast bowler Mukesh Kumar re-joined the team in Ranchi.

India defeated England by 434 runs in the third Test, returning from behind to take the lead in the series.
