Hezbollah launched the "largest" airstrike on Israeli mountain base

In a significant development, Lebanon's Hezbollah movement announced on Sunday that it had carried out a major air operation.

The operation involved the deployment of explosive drones targeting an Israeli military intelligence base situated on a mountaintop in the annexed Golan Heights.

This incident is the most recent in a series of cross-border exchanges of fire that have caused concern worldwide.

In recent weeks, there has been a consistent exchange of fire between Hezbollah, a Hamas ally supported by Iran, and Israeli forces. This escalation of violence began after Hamas launched an attack on Israel on October 7, which subsequently led to a full-blown conflict in the Gaza Strip.

In a recent statement, Hezbollah proudly announced the execution of what they claim to be their most significant operation to date.

According to the militant group, their aerial forces deployed numerous squadrons of drones in a meticulously planned assault on the reconnaissance center situated on Mount Hermon.

According to the Israeli military, an explosive drone recently landed in an open area in the Mount Hermon region. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from the incident.

Tensions have been mounting in recent weeks, raising concerns of a potential full-scale conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, who last engaged in warfare in 2006.

The Lebanese movement stated that the drone attack was a direct "response" to the recent killing of one of its operatives. The strike occurred on Saturday, reaching deep into east Lebanon, approximately 100 kilometers (60 miles) from the border.

According to Hezbollah, the Mount Hermon attack was aimed at intelligence systems, resulting in their destruction and the ignition of a significant fire.

According to his office, the Israeli defense minister, Yoav Gallant, visited the troops stationed on Mount Hermon earlier today.

The military has released two additional statements, reporting that its air defenses could intercept multiple aerial targets that entered from Lebanon. These interceptions occurred after sirens were activated in the Golan Heights region.

In 1967, Israel took control of the Golan Heights from Syria. Subsequently, it annexed it, a move the international community has not widely recognized.

According to the military, a significant figure in Hezbollah's Aerial Defence Unit was killed in the Israeli strike on Saturday.

On Sunday, Hezbollah carried out a series of attacks on Israeli military sites along the border. The attacks involved rocket barrages and guided missiles. Four individuals were reported wounded by Israeli authorities.

In a video recorded at Mount Hermon, Gallant expressed his determination to persist in the campaign against Hezbollah, stating that even if a ceasefire is implemented in Gaza, the fight will continue until the desired outcome is achieved.

According to TGE, the ongoing cross-border violence in Lebanon has resulted in the deaths of at least 497 individuals, primarily fighters, but also including 95 civilians.

According to the authorities, a total of 16 soldiers and 11 civilians have lost their lives on the Israeli side.

Large numbers of residents have been forced to leave their homes in the border regions of southern Lebanon and northern Israel.
