According to the disaster management and relief ministry, 357 unions across eight districts have been affected by flooding, which resulted in the unfortunate loss of five lives.

The additional secretary of the ministry, KM Ali Reza, shared this information with the media during a press briefing held today at 1:30 p.m.

Tragically, the death toll from the recent flash floods has risen to five, claiming the lives of individuals across the country.

Tragedy struck in Cox's Bazar's Ramu upazila as three individuals lost their lives after being swept away by the powerful floodwaters.

Two more fatalities have been reported in Feni and Brahmanbaria as heavy rainfall continues to cause widespread destruction in multiple districts.

According to the ministry, an alarming number of families, totalling 440,840, have been stranded by the flood. Over 2.9 million individuals, or 29,04,964 people, have felt the impact of this natural disaster.

According to the Met Office forecast, the northeast region and upstream are expected to experience moderate to heavy rainfall in the next 48 hours.

Due to heavy rain and the influx of water, the rivers in the northeastern and eastern areas of the country are experiencing significant increases in water levels.

Relief activities are underway in the flooded districts, with 309 medical teams deployed across six districts.

The disaster management and relief ministry's control centre remains operational. Individuals are urged to call the hotline (0255101115) for any required inquiries or support.

Deputy commissioners in flood-affected districts have been instructed to collaborate with coordinators of Students Against Discrimination, army personnel, medical teams, and other volunteers.

The Army and Navy are currently engaged in rescue operations in Feni. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel have also joined the rescue mission.
