According to the report of the Disaster Management and Relief Ministry, the death toll from the recent flood in 11 districts has now reached 52. In the past few days, an additional 21 deaths have been reported in Feni, Comilla, Noakhali, and Moulvibazar districts.
A total of 14 individuals lost their lives in Comilla, while six fatalities were reported in Chittagong.
Feni recorded 17 deaths, followed by eight in Noakhali, three in Cox's Bazar, and one in Brahmanbaria, Khagrachhari, Moulvibazar, and Lakshmipur districts.
In 11 flood-hit districts, including Feni, Cumilla, Chattogram, Khagrachhari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Lakshmipur, and Cox's Bazar, a staggering 1,072,579 families find themselves stranded across 68 upazilas.
Five million four hundred eighty thousand four hundred sixty-three people have been impacted across 492 municipalities or unions in the 11 districts. One person is still missing in the Moulvibazar district.
According to the ministry's data, 502,501 individuals have sought refuge in 3,403 shelter centres. Additionally, the shelters have provided temporary homes for 36,448 domestic animals. In the flood-affected areas, 595 medical teams are on the ground, tirelessly providing essential medical services.
According to the ministry, 45.2 million taka (4.52 crore taka) has been allocated to the flood-stricken districts.
It includes 20,650 tonnes of rice, 15,000 pieces of dry or other foods, and baby foods and fodder worth Tk 3.5 million (Tk 35 lakh) each.
