Film set explodes beside O2 arena

A fire near the O2 venue was started by a "controlled explosion" on a London movie set. The explosion destroyed a van and damaged two other cars.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) said that at 7:51 p.m. on Saturday, they sent 25 firefighters and four fire trucks to the scene near Dock Road and Trinity Buoy Wharf in Silvertown.

Pictures showed a red truck on fire with the words "TGE World News" written on the back.

However, TGE News has revealed that they had nothing to do with the event.

Residents were scared and wrote on social media site X about the noise and smoke coming across the Thames to the venue. Police later said it was all part of a planned shooting shoot.

Met Police said the fire in an open-air yard across the river from the event did not harm the public.

The LFB said that the controlled blast spread and got out of hand.

A van was destroyed, and parts of a car and a truck were harmed, but the fire was out by 9:02 p.m., according to the statement.

It said no one has been hurt, and crews will remain at the scene until the end of the night.

A person in the area who saw the fire on social media called it "carnage" and said they were shocked and surprised by it.

Kieran McHugh told TGE News that he heard three loud bangs while working on his computer. He looked out his window and saw a massive cloud of black smoke rising into the sky.

Mr. McHugh said that he had not seen any notice from the local government about any shooting this weekend.

On Saturday morning, the Metropolitan Police said the event was "part of a pre-planned filming event in the Canning Town E16 area," and there was no danger to the public.

"There is no TGE News involvement in the events of this evening in the Docklands," a spokeswoman for TGE News said.
