Liu Jianchao, Minister of the International Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), is currently in Bangladesh to discuss important problems facing both countries.
A top official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs told UNB that he arrived in Dhaka on Saturday for a four-day working stay.
A government spokesman said the Chinese minister will meet with President Mohammed Shahabuddin, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Foreign Minister Hasan Mahmud.
He will meet with the president on Tuesday and with the prime minister and the foreign minister separately on Monday.
The trip is part of a normal exchange of high-level visits, but sources in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs say that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's upcoming trip to China is expected to be discussed.
In a meeting with Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen in the second week of July, PM Hasina discussed her trip to China. Ambassador Wen reaffirmed China's resolve to increase investment in Bangladesh and improve ties between the two countries.
Ambassador Yao stressed how vital the visit was for boosting trade, business, and culture exchange, which aligns with Bangladesh's goals for "Vision 2041" and building a "Smart Bangladesh."
"It will be another historical one." It is going to change everything. Ambassador Yao was asked about Hasina's upcoming trip at a recent lecture. He told the reporters, "It will start a new chapter."
A reporter asked the ambassador about a possible date for PM Hasina's planned visit next month, and the ambassador replied. This person said, "Let us wait and see."
Yao recently said that China and Bangladesh should strengthen their strategic relationship to work together and find new ways to grow.
"China is willing to work with Bangladesh to continue exploring cooperation opportunities under the Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilisation Initiative," he stated.
More specifically, the representative said that they were ready to help Bangladesh improve its businesses and go digital.
Sun Haiyan, vice minister of the International Division of the Chinese Communist Party, went to Bangladesh last week and talked with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and other leaders.
