Joe Biden called a Supreme Court judgment giving former President Donald Trump partial protection from criminal prosecution a "dangerous precedent."
The president called the ruling "a terrible disservice" to Americans and damaged the "rule of law."
Trump had called the court's ruling a "big win" for democracy.
The court returned the case to a trial judge on Monday, ruling that a president was exempt for "official acts" but not "unofficial acts."
The ruling would postpone Trump's criminal prosecution for allegedly attempting to rig the 2020 election, which went to Biden.
The trial court must now assess Trump's presidential activities, which may take months. A trial is unlikely before November's presidential election.
President Biden remarked late Monday on television: "America was established on the idea that there are no kings. Everyone is equal before the law. No one is above the law. Not even the US president.
"Today's [court] ruling likely indicates a president has no constraints.
The individual who sent the mob to the US Capitol might be charged with a crime. The American people demand a judicial answer before the election."
Mr. Biden was alluding to Trump's prosecution for inciting the disturbance.
"Now, because of today's [court] decision, that is highly unlikely," Biden remarked.
The trial judge must now assess Trump's actions as president, which may take months after the Supreme Court's judgment. Trials seldom begin before the 5 November election.
Trump called this a "big win" on Truth Social.
According to the Supreme Court, all previous presidents enjoy some protection from criminal prosecution, but "unofficial acts," in a private capacity, are not protected.
A lower court judge must now evaluate whether parts of the president's behavior are relevant to his criminal trial for seeking to overturn the 2020 election.
The majority ruling of the Supreme Court exempted his DoJ dealings from prosecution.
In his indictment, Trump is accused of encouraging DoJ personnel to investigate voting fraud without proof.
The three liberal Supreme Court justices vehemently dissented Monday's ruling. Justice Sonia Sotomayor announced: "The president is now a king above the law."
Democratic Congresswoman Judy Chu predicted the court's ruling will have far-reaching effects.
"A president could be immune from his actions if he says in any official capacity that he wants to do something improper and criminal," she added.
If a trial is held, the court's six-three judgment will postpone it until after the November election.
Donald Trump's other criminal cases, including those involving top-secret materials recovered at his Florida property and his Georgia conspiracy case to reverse his close election loss, may also be affected by the judgment.
According to CBS, Trump's legal team is trying to overturn his New York conviction on 34 counts of falsifying company documents to hide an alleged sexual encounter with Stormy Daniels.
CBS stated that Trump's legal team issued the court a letter about this endeavor, citing the Supreme Court's judgment and a source. No case letter has been released.
The case is one of four Trump faces.
