232 killed since the government dissolved

As of Wednesday, an additional 21 individuals lost their lives in a wave of attacks, violence, and sabotage that swept across the nation after the government led by Sheikh Hasina fell on August 5th.


A tragic event unfolded on Tuesday, resulting in the loss of many lives.


Tragically, several individuals passed away during their medical care.

 

As of Wednesday evening, the death toll reached 232. In the period from July 16th to August 4th, a total of 328 individuals lost their lives during the clashes that revolved around the quota movement and the student movement against discrimination.


Over the past 23 days, a total of 560 individuals have tragically lost their lives.

 

Three additional individuals in Savar passed away on Monday while receiving medical care for injuries sustained during the clashes.

 

Six lives were tragically lost on Tuesday when correctional officers resorted to gunfire in response to inmates attempting to escape confinement. Ten bodies of individuals who lost their lives in the clashes on Monday have been received by the mortuary at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

 

A tragic incident unfolded in Meherpur as a man lost his life and seven individuals sustained injuries in a brutal attack on a house in the Gangnam area.


The incident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 11:00 pm, leaving the community in shock and mourning.


Naharul Islam has been identified as the deceased. He hailed from the Baot village in the Motmura Union of the upazila. He had a significant role in the politics of BNP.

 

In a clash between the Awami League and the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), a man lost his life in the Sadekpur Union of Bhairab Upazila in Kishoreganj. Jahirullah, aged 50, has been identified as the deceased.

 

An additional 10 individuals, including six police officers and a member of Ansar, have been brought to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. A tragic outcome unfolded during the clashes on Monday, as lives were lost.

 

The bodies of sub-inspector Sujan Chandra Dey, ASI Firoze Hossain, and constable Rezaul Karim were brought from Jatrabari among the six police members. The individuals were tragically killed through violent means. SI Khagendra Chandra Sarker, 49, and Constable Shahidul Alam, 48, were transported from Uttara East police station.

 

The bodies of three individuals, identified as SI Raju Ahmed (30), Ansar member Abu Jafar (43), and Parvez Mia, were transported from different areas of the city, including Ashulia, Jatrabari, and Matuail. In addition, the DMCH mortuary has also received the bodies of two individuals: Sumon Islam, aged 30, and Abu Hasnat, aged 24. Sumon Islam was from Savar, while Abu Hasnat was from Uttara East police station.

 

In a tragic turn of events, three additional lives were lost as a result of the violent confrontation between the demonstrators and law enforcement in Savar. The incident has resulted in a death toll of 34. Various hospitals in Dhaka have verified this information, as have the relatives of the deceased.
