A 17-year-old boy appeared in an English court on Thursday facing charges for the murder of three young girls in a knife attack at a summer dance class in Southport.

The incident has shocked the nation and led to two nights of violent protests.

Three young girls lost their lives in a devastating stabbing attack last Monday.

Three young children, Bebe King, 6, Elsie Dot Stancombe, 7, and Alice Dasilva Aguiar, 9, tragically lost their lives during a Taylor Swift-themed dance class in the town of Southport.

The devastating incident marks one of the most horrific attacks on children in the country in recent memory.

According to authorities, in addition to the tragic loss of life, eight other children were also injured in the incident, with five of them currently in critical condition.

Two adults are currently in critical condition after sustaining injuries in the attack.

A 17-year-old boy from the nearby village of Banks has been charged by Merseyside Police with three counts of murder, 10 counts of attempted murder, and possession of a "bladed article," according to authorities.

The police have not identified the suspect due to being a minor.

The suspect is scheduled to appear at Liverpool Magistrates' Court on Thursday.

"These charges mark a significant milestone in the ongoing investigation," stated Merseyside Police Chief Constable Serena Kennedy.

"However, it is essential to note that this investigation is still active, and we are collaborating closely with Lancashire Police and Counter Terrorism Policing North West (CTPNW).

Sarah Hammond, the Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS Mersey-Cheshire, emphasized respecting the defendant's right to a fair trial as criminal proceedings against him are underway.

"There is a strong emphasis on refraining from any online reporting, commentary, or sharing of information that could potentially bias these proceedings," emphasized Hammond.

Residents of Southport are currently dealing with the aftermath of a disturbing incident that occurred during a vigil held on Tuesday.

Far-right protesters disrupted the event, leading to clashes with the police, vandalism of a mosque, and the setting of vehicles on fire.

After a peaceful vigil in the seaside town, hundreds of mourners gathered to pay their respects to the three girls who tragically lost their lives.

Wreaths, toys, and candles were laid in a heartfelt tribute, creating an emotional atmosphere. However, the sad occasion took a dark turn as violence erupted.

According to authorities, a total of five individuals have been apprehended for the recent outbreak of violence in Southport. The incident resulted in over 50 police officers sustaining injuries.

Assistant Chief Constable Alex Goss stated, "The investigation into the violent incidents that occurred in Southport on Tuesday is ongoing."

The 17-year-old boy responsible for the disorder showed a complete lack of empathy towards the families and friends who were devastated by the tragic loss of their loved ones.

The entire community is in mourning. Today, the community's response has been truly inspiring.

People have come together to restore the streets, repair walls, and replace shattered windows.

The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, strongly condemned the protests in Southport, labeling them as acts of "thuggery."

He emphasised that those who participated in these events would face the full consequences of the law.
